EVENT CANCELLED DUE TO FIRE DAMAGE AT SHURIJO CASTLE.
As a part of the Shurijo Castle Festival, a procession in period costumes will reenact the hatsu gyoko - the King's visitation of the three main temples in Shuri, historically held on the third day of the New Year. During the Ryukyu Dynasty period, this rite was used to promote the peace and prosperity of the realm.
